The Who tour in the late 1960s included dates in Florida. I had believed for a long time that the Who played Melbourne Civic Auditorium. I recently looked at a published list of tour stops, and the nearest was Orlando. I didn't go to see the Who -- it would have been when we were in 9th grade. So, the question is: Did or did not the Who play at Melbourne?

Answering my own question... Yes!  There is an article in the April, 1968 Hoover Highlights  (vol 2 no. 4) by Wally Dentz about the Who's performance at the Melbourne Civic Auditorium. The exact date is not given, but it was a Sunday. The Dantes and the Royal Guardsmen opened for the Who. 

I wish I had gone to that concert!

Me, too.  I remember seeing Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels.  And the Allman Brothers.  Fun.
